Big News for Moth

There is some big news in regards to what the future holds for me and Moth. This currently updating issue of Moth will be the last one for the foreseeable future. Moth was always meant primarily as a learning tool for me, which is partly why the style changes with each issue, and why I experimented so much with lettering/gutters, etc. I have learned so, so much since starting it. It’s also a story that I wrote when I was 18 or so, knowing (and hoping!) that I would grow as an artist. I don't want to say that I will never go back to it, but right now I don't have plans to.

But the good news is that I will be launching a brand new comic in the new year that will be a long-form trilogy in a somewhat different style. It will have a pretty different vibe from moth, although some of the same ideas and themes will certainly be there, and I’m really really looking forward to showing it to everyone who has been so supportive of me and my work over the years.

I am sorry to anyone who is disappointed by this news. I know that it can be a let down when a comic you like comes to a premature end. Even though there are still a LOT of plot points that have not been resolved, I hope that there is still some emotional resolution for Taylor and that you’ve enjoyed this last issue. Thank-you so much for your support, it really means a lot to me.

Mistakes!!!

Hey everyone - sooo I met a lot of goals on my campaign, which means i actually have to start acting on all those promises haha. For the first two goals, I pledged to go back through the comic and fix all the spelling errors and constancy problems. But I need help from my readers. For the next three weeks, point out all the mistakes you can find - I want to hear them! and then I'll start making the fixes. Thanks so much for reading! Moth in November!

Hey everyone! The first page of issue 4 will go up on Saturday, November 7, and Moth will continue to update on saturdays after that point! I’ll be posting the cover for the next issue at some point before that though, maybe next weekend or sometime during the week after this next coming week.

Thanks so much for bearing with me through all these hiatuses, especially this last very long one!

Issue 4 hiatus

Hey everyone! So… I’m sure you’ve all noticed that these last few pages have been a little chaotic with when they’ve been going up, and everything’s been a bit late. The reason for this is that after almost four years in Sheridan’s animation program, I am finally working a thesis film this semester, and it’s… a lot. It’ so much more than I thought it would be, and it’s actually taking up all of my time. It’s been a struggle to get these pages out at all and balance the comic with my school work. That’s why I’m very sorry to say that Moth will be going on hiatus for a few months. Actually, more than a few months - likely until next September. Thank -you so much to everyone for their ongoing support of the book, it really means a lot to me! Your interest in my work is what inspires me to continue creating it! I will keep everyone updated about the status of issue 4 :) If anyone is interested in following my creative process on my thesis film and end-of-the-year portfolio, you can follow my "serious" art tumblr or my blog. See you in September!

posting from now on

Hey everyone!

After my brief foray into updating only once weekly instead of twice weekly that turned into... a month and a bit... I am actually now going to switch to that method permanently and try and not go on hiatus between issues anymore as a trade off. It's worked out really well for me this way, and I know it will be much more practical for me while I'm working on my thesis film and finishing off my degree these next four months. It's part of a resolution of mine to do a better job of maintaining social media for the comic and promoting it to try and find a wider audience, and the fact is, I really just need more time to do a really good job of curating this comic as well as making my thesis film and staying on top of everything else in my life.

So, Moth will now update on Saturdays.

Thanks so much for sticking with this comic, and I look forward to sharing this next issue with you!

Secret Santa at the Collective of Heroes!

Hey everyone, there's some new guest art (or there will be very soon) from Max and Bob Forward, of 3 Minute Max http://www.3mm-crisisstrike.com/ ! It looks just amazing, the mood and lighting really capture the emotion of the scene he chose to paint, and he definitely did a great job of capturing her character! Check out the rest of the artwork that was part of the exchanage at the collective of heroes site here - http://collectiveofheroes.net/secret-santa/ , and look out for my guest art on the Hero Business - http://www.theherobiz.com/
